Absarokee Community Foundation spearheads town rejuvenation project with Absarokee Community Park

The Absarokee Community Park project was initiated by a dedicated ACF board member with the goal of rejuvenating the town of Absarokee by removing the old, dilapidated Hamburger Hut, clearing the 25 foot x 140 foot lot and preparing it for a community park.
This project is in close proximity to many local Absarokee businesses. It is situate
d between First Interstate Bank and Cloud Nine Quilts, across the street from the Stillwater Market, Absarokee Liquor and Studio 7 hair salon. This proposed project would be a great opportunity to not only improve the aesthetics of the town but also provide a spot for locals and visitors to stop, relax and enjoy the beautiful town of Absarokee during community events.

A site such as this is essential, especially considering the many community events held throughout the year which draws large crowds (Montana BBQ Cookoff, Absarokee Days, Stillwater Run & Ride just to name a few). At this time, there is no outdoor place in close proximity to downtown to escape the hustle and bustle of an event, put your feet up, enjoy the outdoors and relax while still taking in the gathering.
The ACF will spearhead and oversee Phase I of the park renovation project.
Phase I includes:
  1. Conducting an asbestos mitigation survey and abatement on the aged structure currently on the lot;
  2. Tearing down the old Hamburger Hut building
  3. Leveling lot and hauling in topsoil;
  4. Installing automatic sprinkler system;
  5. Working with the Absarokee Parks & Rec. Department (APRD) and other local community groups to develop a conceptual park design (see Phase II).
Phase II: The goal is for the ACF and other community groups to work together with APRD to decide on the final creation. Suggestions thus far include, but not limited to: a veterans memorial, playground, gazebo, reading benches, trees, flowerbeds.

The ACF is placing a call to action for folks far and wide to help bridge the funding gap needed to complete Phase I of the New Absarokee Community Park project. Designated contributions can be sent to the Absarokee Community Foundation, PO Box 72, Absarokee 59001 or to any local Absarokee Area Merchant.
